Imam Mahdi’s (as) Coming Will Be Sudden

Ibn Majah in his Sunan quotes Mohammed Ibn Hanafiyyah and Imam Ali saying that the Holy Prophet (sawa) said, Mahdi is from our Ahle Bayt, no doubt Allah will enforce his appearance within a night (i.e., his coming is very unpredictable and is very sudden).

Moreover, it is narrated that Imam Ali Ibn Abi Talib (as) said: “When the Qaem Aale Mohammed rises Allah will unite the people of east and the people of west.”

Ibn Hajar wrote that:

Muqatil Ibn Sulayman and those who followed him among the (Sunni) commentators of Quran said that the verse: “And he shall be a Sign for (the coming of) the Hour” (Chapter 43 verse 61) was revealed about Imam Mahdi (as). (al-Sawa’iq al-Muhriqah, by Ibn Hajar chapter 11 section 1 p247)

Also Ahmad Ibn Hanbal recorded:

The Prophet (sawa) said: “Allah will bring out from concealment Mahdi from my Family and just before the Day of Judgment; even if only one day were to remain in the life of the world, and he will spread on this earth justice and equity and will eradicate tyranny and oppression.”
