“When they forgot that of which they had been admonished, We opened for them the doors of ail things, until, when they rejoiced in what they were given, We caught them unaware, and then lo! They were in utter despair”
Regarding the verse “When they forgot that of which they had been admonished, We opened for them the doors of all things”, Imam Baqir (as) said, “When they forgot that of which they had been admonished” refers to the Wilayat of Ali, the Commander of the Believers (as), which they had been ordered to follow.
“We opened for them the doors of all things” means that they were given power and wealth in this life.
“Until, when they rejoiced in what they were given, We caught them unaware, and then lo! They were in utter despair” refers to the rising of the Qaem (as). When he rises, it will be as if “they” never had any power at all, and that is why Allah says “unaware.”
After this verse, Allah says to the Prophet’ , “So the roots of the people who were unjust were cut off; and all praise be to AJJah, the Lord of the worlds”. (Tafseer Al Qummi, volume 1 page 200)
