الم غُلِبَتِ الرُّومُ فِي أَدْنَى الْأَرْضِ وَهُم مِّن بَعْدِ غَلَبِهِمْ سَيَغْلِبُونَ فِي بِضْعِ سِنِينَ
لِلَّهِ الْأَمْرُ مِن قَبْلُ وَمِن بَعْدُ وَيَوْمَئِذٍ يَفْرَحُ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ بِنَصْرِ اللَّهِ
يَنصُرُ مَن يَشَاء وَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ
“Alif Laam Meem. The Romans have been defeated in a nearby land, but they, after this defeat, will soon be victorious, in a few years. Allah’s is the authority first and last. On that day the believers shall rejoice in the help of Allah. He helps whomsoever He wills. He is the all-Mighty, ever-Merciful”
Imam Sadiq (as) was asked about the explanation of the verse, “Alif, Laam, Meem. The Romans have been defeated”.
Imam (as) replied, It refers to the Bani Umayyah. Allah says, ” Alif, Laam, Meem. The Romans have been defeated in a nearby land, but they, after this defeat, will soon be victorious, in a few years. Allah’s is the authority first and last. On that day the believers shall rejoice in the help of Allah”.
“That day” is the day of the rising of the Qaem (as). (Taweel Al Ayat Al Zahirah page 426)
Ameerul Momeneen (as) said, The verses “Alif, Laam, Meem. The Romans have been defeated in a nearby land, but they, after this defeat, will soon be victorious, in a few years. Allah’s is the authority first and last. On that day the believers shall rejoice in the help of Allah” was revealed about us and the Bani Umayyah. (Taweel Al Ayat Al Zahirah 426)
Imam Sadiq (as) explained the verse, “On that day the believers shall rejoice in the help of Allah”. He (as) said, The believers (who are already dead) will “rejoice” the rising of the Qaem (as) in their graves. (Dalaelal Imama page 464)
